About the Artist

Krishna Prakash Vasant is an artist whose practice weaves the threads of Indian mythology with a contemporary sensibility. Working primarily in monochromatic ink on paper, his line work carries echoes of the Surpur miniature painting tradition.

His works are rooted in divine figures, cosmic battles and allegories of Ramayana, Mahabharata and Puranic lore. The dense intricate lines bring out gods and goddesses layered with human emotions, gestures and ornamentation.

His early works reflect a deep engagement with classical iconography, drawing on temple sculptures, courtly miniature aesthetics, and the narrative flow of illustrated manuscripts. In recent years, his focus has expanded to encompass themes from the natural world, exploring cycles of creation and decay with a sense of age and memory.

Krishna Prakash’s art is an act of preservation and renewal while holding space for ancestral visual languages and new interpretations. His lines and each stroke carries the quiet weight of centuries of storytelling, yet arranged in compositions that invite a contemporary gaze.
