In the quiet spaces of daily life, perception unfolds long before thought begins. The gentle passing of light across a wall, the softness of humid air before rainfall, or the subtle rhythm of tree shadows in the afternoon. These small, almost unnoticed sensations build up to make us feel the world in a particular way. Though often overlooked, they are the starting places from which our emotions, our identities, and our ways of knowing are silently composed.
Emergence of Perception invites us back to these first meetings with our environment. Rather than looking for grand narratives or dramatic gestures, this exhibition turns our attention to the subtle and continuous dialogue between body and environment. In his watercolour practice, Tikendra Kumar Sahu creates images built not from immediacy but from patient accumulation. Countless small dots, delicate strokes, and shifts of temperature and tone allow the texture of life to slowly surface, textures that can't be rushed, only felt.
Sahu transposes physical atmospheres into emotional resonance. Light, humidity, breath, and shadow become intimate records of lived experience as a way of seeing less about representation and more about the sensation of inhabiting the world.
His work asks: How do these minute perceptions shape the way we exist? And what emerges in the spaces where attention returns to the small, the quiet, the ordinary?
This Private View is a moment to slow down, to step into an environment where soft visual rhythms unfold at their own pace.
