Meet the Artist: Desire without Apology

1 March, 2026
Virtual Event

An intimate conversation with the artist behind the exhibition

This Meet the Artist session invites you to spend time with Sheli Gupta, whose work sits at the intersection of the body, memory, desire, and resistance. Known for her distinctive use of thread, cloth, wire, and mixed media, Sheli’s practice transforms the female form from something observed into something that speaks.

In this session, Sheli will talk about her journey as an artist, her choice of materials, and the ideas that continue to shape her work. She’ll share how thread becomes more than a medium and how her figures hold both vulnerability and strength at once.

Date: 1 March 2026

Time: 8:00 - 9:00 PM (IST)

2:30 - 3:30 PM (GMT)

Virtual: Google Meet

What you can expect from this session:

  • A deeper understanding of Sheli Gupta’s artistic practice

  • Insights into the themes of desire, dignity, and the female body

  • The stories and emotions behind key works in the exhibition

  • Reflections on creating art in a society that often silences women’s expression

You’ll have the opportunity to speak directly with the artist, ask questions, and engage with her thoughts in real time.

Whether you are an artist, student, curator, or viewer encountering her work for the first time, this session offers a rare chance to connect with the voice behind the art.
