This month-long exhibition features the works of Tikendra Kumar Sahu that foreground one key yet often overlooked question: How do sensory experiences shape and contour who we are and how we navigate the world? In an era where attention is consistently fragmented, where urgency and productivity override presence. The exhibition offers up a quiet recalibration of how we see, feel, and perceive.
About Emergence of Perception
The practice of Tikendra Kumar Sahu is a very personal response to this question. Guided by what he calls an "Art sick" a necessity, of sorts, in transcribing lived sensations into visual form. He constructs each image through a deliberately slow, meditative technique. Instead of broad washes typical of watercolour, he builds his works through subtle dots, short strokes, and shifts in temperature. The method mirrors perception itself: fragmentary, layered, always in motion.
Influenced by the aesthetics of Rasa, Sahu treats color not just as a visual component but rather as an emotional temperature. Through his careful balance of warm and cool tones, everyday environments become carriers of atmosphere: tension in the air before rain, dense shade under afternoon trees, or warmth of sunlight diffusing across a familiar path. These are not mere landscapes; they are embodied memories shared by those who have lived similar climates, seasons, and rhythms.
The exhibition became for the curators a process of asking how art can bring us back to the immediacy of experience. Returning to perception in today's conceptual frameworks might just be both urgent and meaningful.
