Colour of my Soil?

In the ever-evolving landscape of contemporary art, there emerges a space where narratives intertwine with self-discovery, where brush strokes and sculpture become conduits of human stories. The vibrant realm was recently brought to life at Artlune through the remarkable event, "Color of My Soil," an exhibition that celebrated both the individual and the collective, art and identity, heritage and introspection.


Guiding this extraordinary journey was none other than Vikas Garg, a curator renowned for his impeccable curation of contemporary art. With a keen eye for unearthing artistic gems and a vision that transcends conventional boundaries, Vikas Garg seamlessly wove together the thread of introspection, heritage, and creative expression in “Colour of my Soil?”. His curatorial powers ensured that every piece of art on display resonated with the theme leading to a rich and immersive experience for visitors.


The soul of any art exhibition is, undoubtedly, the artists who infuse their creativity into every stock and sculpture. In “Colour of my soil?”, a diverse group of artists graced our gallery with their incredible talents and unique perspectives.


"Color of My Soil" was more than just an art exhibition; it was a voyage into the depths of identity and heritage. Each artwork served as a mirror, reflecting the personal stories of the artists while inviting viewers to see their own reflections within the narratives presented.


The title, "Color of My Soil," symbolises the profound connection between identity and the land from which we originate. It encompassed not only the physical terrain but also the cultural, historical, and emotional foundation that informs our sense of self. The exhibition encouraged visitors to contemplate their own roots, sparking a deep appreciation for the diversity of human stories that make up our shared human mosaic.

Among the featured artists is Rafiq Shah, a master of abstract art. His creations, enriched by experiences like the Lalit Kala Akademi scholarship at Garhi, delve into the depths of human experience through layers and lines. Rafiq's artworks beautifully align with the exhibition's theme of self-discovery. They invite viewers to explore the diverse shades that define our shared human experience, a visual journey that promises profound introspection.


Kadambari Malhotra’s artwork, has its vivid imagery, exemplifies the strength of human resilience. Amidst life's challenges and negativity, it highlights the eye's unwavering determination to soar, symbolizing the transformative power of perspective. The painting serves as a compelling reminder that even in the darkest of times, one can find beauty, and by shifting one's perception, truly ascend beyond limitations.


Aviral Nimesh's creations, a blend of fantasy and surrealism, serve as gateways to uncharted wonder, mirroring the theme's exploration of self and heritage. Aviral invites viewers to join a transformative journey, where dreams are set free, and the essence of shared human experiences finds expression on the canvas of his art, adding a profound dimension to our exhibition.

Chetan Bhakuni’s autobiographical approach delves deep into the theme of identity, providing a poignant platform to explore complex relationships, societal suppression, feudal mentality, and domestic violence. Through his art, Chetan facilitates a profound conversation between his personal experiences, his mother's story, and the viewer, adding a compelling layer to our exhibition's exploration of diverse narratives.


Soumick Nag’s "abstract boats" transcend their watery context to evoke a unique sense of melancholia and the irresistible force of nature. His restless style, painted with ambiguity and vulnerability, adds a touch of painterly theatre to our exploration of diverse narratives, underscoring the delicate balance between stability and disintegration.


Aashika Choudhary's profound reflections on the veil intricately resonate with our exhibition, "Color of My Soil?." Her exploration of this enigmatic garment delves into its multifaceted nature, from symbols of oppression to expressions of identity. Her perspective adds depth to the theme of self-discovery and the intricate narratives that define our sense of self, emphasizing the importance of personal choice and autonomy in shaping one's identity.


The introspective journey by Aastha Khanna beautifully aligns with our exhibition, "Color of My Soil?" It's a testament to how art in the 21st century transcends traditional boundaries, emphasizing the amalgamation of diverse mediums and concepts. The exploration of chemical reactions in both the artist's creative process and the viewer's perception adds depth to our theme of self-discovery, highlighting the profound and subjective nature of artistic expression.

Damini Gupta's focus on women's stories and the societal pressures they face aligns perfectly with our theme of self-discovery and shared narratives. Through her brush strokes and digital calligraphy, she brings to life the emotions and struggles of women, offering a powerful perspective that adds depth and introspection to our showcase.

Honey Yadav's journey from aspiring lawyer to self-taught artist beautifully complements, "Color of My Soil?" His dedication to art, spanning from childhood to her current pursuits, mirrors the theme of self-discovery and evolution.

Kripal Matthur's innovative mastery of the 'wet felting' technique, drawing from tradition yet embracing contemporary art forms, adds a unique dimension to our showcase. Ratnesh Dubey’s presence adds depth to our showcase, highlighting the role of tradition and recognition in shaping one's artistic identity, thus contributing to the exploration of self-discovery and shared narratives.


Richa Goel's ability to capture the river's serenity and the profound connection it holds with individuals' senses aligns with our theme of self-discovery and the exploration of one's roots. Through her art, she invites viewers to embark on a journey of rhythm, calmness, and introspection, making it a perfect fit for our showcase.

Trishna Bhati's artistic expression and ability to capture the intangible aspects of nature align with our theme of self-discovery and the exploration of our deep-rooted connection to the environment. Through her art, she offers viewers a unique perspective, inviting them to delve into the spiritual and holistic realm of human experience, making it a perfect fit for our showcase.


Nilanjan Chakravarty's artistry is a perfect fit for our exhibition, "Color of My Soil?." As a self-taught artist, his mission to make art accessible to all resonates with our theme of self-discovery and shared narratives. His fusion of gothic and art nouveau styles adds a unique dimension to our showcase, symbolizing the blending of diverse backgrounds and cultures that shape our identities.
